Calcutta for the Wellington Boot is “the social betting event of the Spring Racing Carnival”
The Calcutta is a much-loved tradition of the Wellington Boot Carnival and a highlight of the Wellington Race Club’s annual celebrations. This popular social event brings the community together on the eve of the big race.
During the Calcutta, the horses entered in the main race are auctioned. Guests can bid on their favourite runner, and if the horse they “purchase” goes on to win the race the following day, they take home a share of the prize pool.
The Calcutta adds an extra layer of excitement, friendly competition, and community spirit to the Wellington Boot Carnival, making it a tradition locals look forward to each year.
SATURDAY APRIL 11
7:30PM until late: DJ TJ SIMPSON FROM NEWCASTLE
4-Man, Ambrose Wellington Golf Course with transportation available to and from the Club throughout the day from the Golf Club for the Ambrose and to the races for the Boot.
SUNDAY 12TH APRIL
WELLINGTON BOOT RACES
1PM-5PM: GREG HUSH PERFORMING AT WELLINGTON RACECOURSE
The courtesy bus will be available for members on Sunday to return to the club for raffles, members badge draw, and cash fever!
